Math: 2D Convolution For even sized matrices, pick one of the 4 center cells as center of calculation. Which means the each cell to be convolved is affected by more past or future cells based on the selection. Select i:-N+1 to N, or -N to N-1 j:-N+1 to N, or -N to N-1 Four possibilities. Actually there is no limitation how to choose the i, and j. All it means is which neighbouring points to be used for a specific cells that the convolution is applied. Selection of i and j only moves the kernel (mask) matrice around over the processed cell. So kernel to the selected cell relation does not always have to be centered. Kernel is basically the list of weights of how much each neigbour wil have effect on the output selected cell. (Time domain filter)
